Visiting this site

Visiting transfers what any web server needs: IP address, time, the address requested, the browser identification. Those sit in the server's logs and are deleted after 14 days at the latest. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR ÔÇö running a reachable site.

There is no tracking, no analytics, and nothing embedded from anybody else's server. Fonts and stylesheets are served from this machine.

Signing up records the email address and the language ÔÇö nothing else, and no name in particular.

A signup only counts after the link in the confirmation mail has been clicked (double opt-in). Without that click the address is deleted after 14 days. The legal basis is consent, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR.

Recorded with every signup: time, IP address, the wording of the consent and the time of confirmation. That is the accountability duty of Art. 7(1) GDPR.

The address is stored encrypted. Lookups use a check value from which the address cannot be recovered.

Consent can be withdrawn at any time ÔÇö through the unsubscribe link in every mail, or by email to the address above. Withdrawal takes effect immediately and does not affect the lawfulness of processing up to that point.

Recipients

The server is operated by Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestraße 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, in a data centre in Germany. A processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR is in place.

Mail is sent through a provider with data centres in the European Union. There are no other recipients; data is not sold and not transferred to third countries.

Rights

Access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction (Art. 18), portability (Art. 20) and objection (Art. 21). An informal message to the address above is enough.

There is also a right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority; for Lower Saxony: Die Landesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz Niedersachsen, Prinzenstraße 5, 30159 Hannover.
